Arlington Mayor Honors AISD Alumnus, Alabama Football Player Chris Owens
Back in February 2016, Arlington ISD hosted its annual national signing day event at the Professional Development Center. One of the nearly 70 students honored for receiving athletic scholarships that day was Lamar High School football player Chris Owens, a highly-rated offensive lineman heading to the University of Alabama. For Chris Owens and his friends and relative, February 9, 2021 will never be the same since this will be the day proclaimed to be Chris Owens Day. This is such an honor considering that most prominent people who are awarded with it are either dead or very old already. But for this young man, he gets the recognition while he is still young and alive. May this serve as an inspiration to many youths nowadays. UTA Planetarium in Arlington, TX
